Iron (III) chloride, or ferric chloride, is a dark brown chemical compound and a clean liquid which is an industrial scale commodity, with the chemical formula FeCl3. This compound is commonly used in waste processing, drinking water production and as a catalyst, both in industry and in laboratories. The density of this liquid is 1.36 g/ml and it dissolves in air.
Application:
1. Usually used for processing industrial waste materials and producing drinking water
2. As a color remover in textiles, to test pitting and corrosion resistance in stain iron.
3. In the laboratory, this compound is used as a catalyst for the chlorination of aromatic compounds and other aromatic reactions.
