Polydiallyldimethylammonium chloride (PDADMAC or PDDA) is a cationic polymer with a high charge density. The charge density makes it particularly suitable for flocculation. Actually, PDADMAC or DMDAAC, is used as coagulant of the charge neutralization process that precedes flocculation.
PDADMAC is used as a coagulant in water purification. It is effective in agglomerating and flocculating inorganic particles. At high concentrations, organic polymers can remove natural organic matter such as humic acid and fulvic acid resulting in fewer disinfection byproduct precursors and less color.
